14.3 RPC observation

• RPC rings don't need a centering.
1. Place a specimen on the stage and focus it.
2. Check that the RPC ring and the objective match, and that
both are steadily set on a click stop.
3. While observing in the eyepiece, modulate the contrast of the
sample by turning the ring nut mounted on the slider. (Fig.
46)
• The image will take on a different three-dimensional effect
depending on the position of the slit.
