ETHANOL
This system runs on
bioethanol, the fuel burns
SYSTEM
directly in the fire pit and
does not require any on-site
installation. It is important,
OPERATING
however, to verify that there
INSTRUCTIONS
is proper ventilation.
An ethanol tank will hold
approximately 4 liters, the
ethanol consumption of the
burner is an estimated of
1 liter per hour.
¹
Filling the tank:
With the help of a funnel,
pour Bio-Ethanol into the fire
pit tank. The tank must
be filled to at least ³⁄₄ of
its capacity.
When filling it, make sure
that the fuel does not touch
the stones. You can either
remove the stones altogether
or set them aside and clean
up any ethanol that may have
spilled when pouring.
Before lighting up the
fire pit, make sure that no
flammable objects are near
or in the burner area. Likewise,
verify that the decorative
stones are correctly placed,
since the amount of stones in
the interior part will determine
the size of the flame and the
efficiency (duration) of the
fuel. To avoid accidents,
do not place firewood, wood
or any other object on the
burner. Remove plants and
other non-heat resistant
objects from the fire pit's
surroundings.
²
Lighting up the fire pit:
Moisten the ignition
lancet with ethanol. Light up
the tip of the lancet with a fire
source and carefully approach
the burner. Touch the lancet's
tip to the surface of the fuel to
ignite it. In order to prevent
accidents, always use the
lancet to light the fireplace –
never bring your face or any
other part of your body close
to the flame.
The flame will reach its
maximum height within 10-15
minutes after ignition.
*
Duration of flame with stone:
3.5 - 4 hours
*
Duration of flame without
stones: 1 - 1.5 hours.
Ethanol consumption in L/h
will depend on the altitude
above sea level and the
burner's orientation in relation
to the air current. This will
affect the fire pit's thermal
output ability as wel.
On the following page
you will find a video with
the Umo-Ethanol System
operating instructions.
³
Turning off the fire pit:
Place the lid on top of
the burner for 2 full minutes,
completely covering it to
cease oxygen circulation and
extinguish the flame. Failure to
do so will result in the burner
not shutting down until all of
its fuel is consumed.
The burner usually heats
up to over 100°C, consequently
it should not be touched or
reignited for up to 15 minutes
after it has been turned off.
⁴
Refilling the tank:
Wait at least 15 minutes
after the fire pit has been out
before refilling the ethanol
tank, in order to allow the
burner to cool down.
Do not refill the burner
while the flame is still ignited
or if the burner has not fully
cooled down. Never pour fuel
onto the flame, this will cause
a fire or fatal burns.
⁵
Maintenance:
Clean the tank
frequently using hot water
and soap.
Should the fire pit
require deep cleaning,
using a dish scrub sponge
is recommended.
