SAFETY MESSAGES TO INSTALLERS AND USERS
Product should be installed by a licensed electrician and
follow all safety instructions. Failure to do so may result
in property damage, serious injury, or death.
• To avoid electrical shock hazards, do not connect
wires when power is applied.
• To be an effective warning device, this product
produces bright light that could be hazardous to
eyesight. Do not stare directly at the light. Rapid
flashing could induce photosensitive epilepsy.
• Never alter the unit in any manner. Safety in
hazardous locations may be endangered if additional
openings or alternations are made.
• WARNING - EXPLOSION HAZARD: Do not disconnect
the equipment unless power has been switched off
or the area is known to be non-hazardous. To reduce
the risk of ignition due to electrostatic discharge,
avoid contact with the unit while an explosive
atmosphere is present. Clean only with a damp
cloth. Do not use chemical cleaners.

OVERVIEW - The Model 225X Electraray Light is a UL
listed visual signal for hazardous locations and has been
investigated by Underwriters Laboratories as meeting
Type 4X (watertight and corrosion resistant) enclosure
requirements. The Model 225X also meets IP66 (dust-
tight and protection against heavy seas) enclosure
requirements. The enclosure is also IP69K compliant. The
unit is available for 120 Vac, 50/60 Hz.
Unpacking the Device: After unpacking the device,
examine it for damage and verify the parts. If a part is
missing or damaged, do not attempt to install and contact
Federal Signal Customer Support.
Mounting the Device
:
EXPLOSION HAZARD: Do not install the unit in a
hazardous location if the operating temperature exceeds
the atmosphere's ignition temperature.
The Model 225X has provisions for mounting toa 1/2"
pipe. Before mounting, ensure that mating threads are
clean. Thread the fixture onto the 1/2" pipe.
To prevent the connection from loosening, tighten the
fixture to a MINIMUM torque of 5 ft-lb (6.8 Nm) after
threading it onto the pipe.
Conduit used to join the Model 225X to a splice box shall
not be longer than 10 inches (254 mm).
Electrical Connections
ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS: To avoid electrical shock,
do not connect wires when circuits are energized. Wiring
must comply to code in the country of use.
THIS UNIT MUST BE INSTALLED ON A 1/2 A FUSED LINE.
The Model 225X is supplied with three leads: white, black,
and green/yellow. Connect the black lead to the phase
side of the power source, the white lead to the common
(neutral) side of the power source, and the green/yellow
lead to ground.
If required, the green/yellow lead in the housing is
provided for connection to an earth ground.
