DESCRIPTION

The BRAT2 Procedure Set consists of three assemblies: the
®
BRAT Suction Assembly, the Blood Collection Reservoir, and the
BRAT2 Bowl Processing Set (pump valve cartridge and Baylor
Bowl).
The BRAT2 Procedure Set
compartments, one with the Suction Assembly and the Reservoir;
one with the Processing Set. If the Processing Set is not required
during the surgical procedure, it may be reserved for another
occasion, so long as the compartment remains unopened.
Contents of this set have been sterilized by ethylene oxide gas and
have nonpyrogenic fluid pathways.
Suction Assembly
The BRAT Suction Assembly consists of a suction tip connector
bonded to a dual lumen tube assembly. The small lumen of the
dual lumen tube supplies anticoagulant solution to the salvaged
blood. Flow control for the anticoagulant solution is achieved with
the use of a roller clamp and universal drip chamber spike. The
large lumen tube connects to the 1/4" inlet port of a blood
collection reservoir and facilitates the transfer of salvaged blood
mixed with anticoagulant from the sucker tip to the blood collection
reservoir.
The Outlet Clamp allows setup of the Blood Collection Reservoir
and Suction Assembly without prior attachment to the BRAT2 Bowl
Processing Set.
Blood Collection Reservoir (see Figure 1)
The Blood Collection Reservoir is available with a 30-micron Filter
or a 120-micron Gross Filter. The Reservoir is a sealed, clear 3000
ml capacity blood storage device. Ports are provided for
connection to surgical field suction tubing and suckers. Both
models contain filtration and defoaming media for removing
contaminants and air from the collected blood. The Reservoir also
can be used for collection and return of postoperative wound
drainage.
The Reservoir can be used with either pumped suction or a
vacuum source.
