Adding a Sample to the Rotor
1.
Remove the "practice" rotor from the start-up pack and practice loading a sample, using a
preferred transfer device after reading the instructions in this section.
CAUTION:
The practice rotor is for sample loading practice only. DO NOT RUN THIS ROTOR
IN THE VS2 — IT WILL CANCEL THE ANALYSIS.
Fixed 100 L Volume Pipette
a. Firmly attach a new tip to the end of the pipette. Do not touch the tip (may cause
false elevation of amylase).
b. With the index finger or thumb, push the pipette button to the stop position and hold
it down for sample pickup.
c. Immerse the tip 2–3 mm below the surface of the sample as
shown.
d. Release the button SLOWLY to pick up the sample. Pause, then
remove the pipette from the sample tube.
e. Check that there are no air bubbles or air gaps in the pipette
tip. Place pipette tip into the sample port of the rotor. The tip
should touch the sample port as shown.

f. Gently depress the button on the pipette to allow the sample to SLOWLY fill the
sample chamber. Keep the pipette button depressed until you remove it from the
sample port.
