1. Lower exhaust– Using an exhaust hanger removal tool, lower muffler by removing (4) rearmost rubber hanger for two exhaust mufflers and (1) forward rubber hanger. A spray of lubricant or soapy
water on rubber hangers makes them slide off metal pins more easily. NOTE: Be sure that exhaust is properly supported before removing rubber hangers.
2. Using a flat head screwdriver, remove (5) rivets from bottom of fascia and keep for reinstallation.
3. Feed the carriage bolts ① and spacers ② through access holes on both side frame rails using the pull wires ⑨ for horizontal holes, see Figure 1. Leave pull wires attached.
4. (This step is only for the vehicle that has Hands free lift gate) Using a phillips screwdriver and plastic trim tool, remove (2) screws and (1) push pin that hold the sensor to lower the bumper fascia.
Remove forward most sensor antenna (if present) and cover in provided corrugated plastic tubing. Push and adjust through hole in main body plate. Using an electrical tape adhere the ends of
antenna to corrugated plastic tubing.
5. Trim lower fascia – Using a tape measure, marker, and utility knife, measure, mark, and trim the lower fascia and sensor bracket (if present). See Figure 2 & 3.
6. Install Hitch - Raise hitch into position, over the exhaust, and feed the pull wires through bracket slots. Remove pull wires and loosely install conical washers ③, hex nuts ④ to the hitch. Loosely
install carriage bolt ⑤, spacer ⑥, conical washer ⑦, hex nut ⑧ through hook bracket of hitch and vehicle tow hook, see Figure 4 & 5.
7. Tighten all 7/16-14x1.25 GR 5 fasteners to 50 ft-lb (68 N*m) and 1/2-13x2.00 GR 5 fastener to 75 ft-lb (102 N*m).
8. Reinstall (4) rivets on bottom of fascia and return (1) rivet to owner and reinstall the muffler hanger to move the muffler back into position.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has
been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. This product complies with safety
specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
