501RLA Tube loading (single pumphead installation)

Isolate pump from mains supply. Unlock and open the hinged guard and swing out the rotor crank
l
handle until it locks into position.
Mark a 240mm length onto the section of the tubing which is to be located into the pumphead.
l
Fit one end of the tubing into one of the spring loaded clamps, and then, whilst rotating the rotor
l
with the crank handle, feed the tubing between the rollers and the track, aligning it within the rotor
tube guides. The tubing must lie naturally against the track and must not be twisted or stretched.
Ensure that the second 240mm mark is adjacent to the inner edge of the upper tube clamp.
l
Note: For installations where rotor and drive shaft cannot rotate freely, see section 15 "501RLA Tube
loading (Rotor and drive shaft do not freely rotate)" on the facing page.
Note: Images show transparent non-ATEX guard. ATEX guard is opaque because it has a conductive
coating.
Open the upper spring-loaded tube clamp and locate the tubing into it, making sure there is no
l
residual twist in the tubing, and that the tube sits centrally between the tube guide rollers. Release the
clamp.
The 501RLC pumphead is fitted with four- position tube clamps, to accommodate various tube
l
diameters, which can be adjusted by pushing in or pulling out the bars at the top of the upper clamp
and the bottom of the lower clamp. Set the clamps so that the minimum necessary pressure is
applied to the tubing. Adjust the sliders to prevent tube movement during a few trial rotations of the
rotor.
Close the crank handle. Shut and lock the guard.
l
After the pump has been started, open the delivery clamp for a short time, so that the tube can find
l
its natural length.
