ADJUSTING THE CUTTING
DEPTH (Fig. 10)
1. Press the "O" (off) side of the on/off switch
down. Remove the battery.
2. Select and install the desired cutter bit
following the instructions in the section
"INSTALLING AND REMOVING BITS".
3. Open the base lock lever.
4. Depress the depth quick-adjustment button
to lower/raise the router motor (and the bit) to
the general desired cutting depth.
5. Start by aligning the tip of the bit with the
bottom of the fixed base so that the bit is
not protruding past the sub-base. Note the
indicated depth on the depth scale, then increase that depth by your desired cutting depth.
6. Once the general cutting depth is set, turn the depth adjustment dial to lower/raise the bit to
the accurate desired cutting depth.
7. Close the base lock lever.
NOTE:
Always make a trial cut in scrap material to determine the cutting depth setting.
•
Each mark on the depth adjustment dial represents a depth change of 1/64" (0.4 mm).
•
Making a single deep cut is never advisable. Smaller diameter cutter bits are easily broken
•
by too much lateral thrust and torque. Larger cutter bits will cause a rough cut and will be
difficult to guide and control. For these reasons, do not exceed 1/8" (3.2 mm) cutting depth in
a single pass.
If the base lock lever is too loose, tighten the lever screw using a 3 mm hex key (not
•
included).
